Tahoe & Suburban The power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.

Default Rough Idle/hesitation

Howdy race fans.

So I just enjoyed to whole changing the charcoal filter/blowing out the carbon out of the gas tank vents drama, and then my engine started running very bad. I supposed I had gobbered something but I wasn't finding anything.

However, it was acting like a spark plug wire was grounding out - I didn't hear anything but that's the way it was behaving. I had recently added some red "Made in China" wires and assumed that might be the issue (only a month old but the coil end on some of the wire connectors wasn't centered on a couple of the wires - had to fight to get them seated). Rough idle and hesitation when first accelerating was the issue. At speed, it seemed to run OK...sort of. I did notice the instant MPG was lower than I was use to seeing (17 vice 21 MPG @ 55 MPH).

Changed out the wires (again) and replaced all eight coils - it runs like a new truck (2013 Suburban 180K)! I found #6 coil had a missing section on the bottom - I hadn't see that during all my fiddling. The post was wet too - that's right below where the heater hoses connect at the firewall...yeah, I had replaced those plastic heater hose connectors about three years ago. However, I've seen drips at that connection since; but it's not flowing or have I smelled antifreeze.

Recommend you consider this

"parts cannon" if you're chasing a similar problem.

Happy motoring!
