Default RPE Screens staying on?

I have an '11 Suburban with the factory rear entertainment system with two screens. I noticed recently that the screens were staying on - not showing video, but powered up - when the vehicle was off. They stay on for about 5 minutes. They also power up again when you open the door.

The dealer checked it out and talked to GM who said this is "normal". Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks for the welcome shark - go mizzou!

The screens are the roof mounted ones - one for each row.

I just have one screen but it goes off w/ the ignition or driver's door. Don't remember which.

jlbags, Have you checked with your dealership to see if this is in fact normal for the vehicle?

Jeff - Thanks for the reponse to my post. Yes - my dealer did check this out. They checked the units, the system and conferred with Chevrolet service on this. They were told to check another 2011 unit with the same system - Hard to do since they do not have another one with dual screens in inventory. They were told this is "normal" for a system with dual screens to take up to 5 minutes to power down.

I do not believe this is "normal" behavior and will eventually lead to the failure of the units. Both units stay on - whether they are in the viewing position or folded up.

Default nice

GM Can't do tech.

but that's another story.

I know the factory sat nav stays on until you open the door, then makes noises like it's on if you press unlock... draining the battery into oblivion... (I replaced it w/a yellow top)...

What's the owners manual say?
