Default Seatbelt latch help

Hello I am new to this forum and to the tahoe. I have ran a search and came up empty handed. We just bought a 07 Tahoe LS. Its nice and roomy I must say. But everything aside the drivers side seatbelt latch isn't working right. You can not just push the seat belt in to the reviver. You must push the release put the belt in then let go of the button. The dealer said I need a new receiver but I am not about to pay over 200 for them to fix it. I know I can replace it myself for $79. But I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and was able to fix it with OUT replacing it?

Thanks
Matt

Welcome to the forum

You might dry cleaning it with some compressed air and a shot of lubricant
It would be my guess the previous owner probably dropped or spilled something in it...

Well if you look down the latch you can see the bar that locks it in. Then when you push the button you see it retract. Its almost like it is constantly locked. Does this make sense??

If you look down in a latch that works, does it look any different than the one that doesn't?

Yes the difference is the bar coming across that moves when you push the button. I will try to get a picture here in a few minutes

We like pictures
you may try some lubricant on it to see if it helps, you could also unbolt it and take it out and give it a good look over and better cleaning ( assuming its not real damage)

My drivers seat (belt) latch has always acted funny. If you don't give it a very deliberate and straight push it will not actually latch. It still clicks but feels loose. If you yank on it, it will come loose. I'm used to it so I give the belt a pull now just to make sure. What makes me nervous is that other "guest" drivers may not realize it. Since my Suburban is out of warranty I have been meaning to just buy a new receiver, given it is such a safety issue.
