Default Security weakness - GM SUV's

Anyone know if similar design flaws exist in the 2010 Suburbans? I don't think mine has a column lock. Maybe ought to get an aftermarket alarm or "The Club"

A pair of bolt cutters will cut right thru the steering wheel as once shown on tv and enable the thief to take the club off with no problem.

A flat bed tow truck and clearance in front or back and your ride will be history.

Thanks for the post Jracer; I find myself eating my criticism of Canadian Insurance Companies of late. After seeing this, obvious neglect by the General, why would any insurance company repeatedly insure these vehicles in their current security flaw state?

It’s obvious we’re paying high premiums as a result of neglect at General Motors. Seriously, which new age, non-old school genius decided steering locks and a thick tamper plate were not required any longer as a result of On-star being equipped? I’m fed up with this company pissing on the people of who brought them through the good times and through their worst time only to get further pissed on. I and you all have spent enough on the damn vehicle to begin with. What makes General Motors think we have more money to give away to insurance companies? I DON’T BELIEVE IN BAILOUTS GM!!!

Between many members here and owners getting negative results regarding a serious manufacturing flaw of cracked dashboards, to now this obvious serious security flaw; I AM DONE with GENERAL MOTORS! I am tired of being disrespected and neglected by way of expecting the best of the best from a corporation of who obviously still have the old mentality of “we will tell you what you want and what you need”. This is my last GM vehicle!

Food for thought GM; how is it Ford managed to revamp their skills and quality and actually visited their customers to see what they are doing to their vehicles and their expectations from said vehicles. Ford visited to see what they (customers or CLIENTS as Ford refers to their purchasers) are buying in the after- market as to prevent the Customer from doing so in the 1st place. Sounds to me it’s a Corporation that gives a Sh*T!!! Oh that’s right, no bail out for Ford, stocks highest ever in the history of Ford and Customer satisfaction #1. Sounds to me someone got the memo over at Ford.
----------------------------------------------------------
To General Motors, you can always get a customer in the show room, but can you keep and make them want to come back; that’s a PHD in common business sense. I just gave it to you for FREE!

General Motors, smarten up, start respecting the quality of your product and the people who drive them. It’s them that will carry you through the hard times. If you ever see bankruptcy again, this is one person that would more than likely say Poof BE gone! I would not as it is right now run out and purchase a Tahoe like I did to support our Canadian and American Auto workers. All General Motors designers and Management should be embarrassed!

Default Agreed!

Agreed. Ford is taking names and kicking ***.

They took NO bail out money.

GM LIED about repaying loans.
GM LIED about the Volt's driveline.
GMT900 platform easy to steal, with sat-nav from a 6 year old.

My friend at work went to get a new car, he could only get 'red' if he got the top of the line one... went to a ford dealer, bought a red fusion that same day. He LOVES the Sync.

Ford gets 412 HP from the 5.0L in the Mustang... GM takes 6.2L to get similar...
Ford has active parking assist.
Ford has adaptive cruise control
Ford has airbags in the seat belts.
Ford has better build quality (in my wife's tribute AND the mustang I rented 2 weeks ago)
GM has a dash made of wheel barrow plastic in a $60,000 SUV.

I could go on, but you get the point.

This is my last GM. Had I not lost so much $ on it, I'd sell it this minute for a 4 door Raptor...

GM & Chrysler took bail out loans, and continue to produce junk. Ford is where I want to spend my money.

GM's cut me a $900 check for my Sat Nav issues, and $300 for my bluetooth... My wheels are yellowing as well... real world testing much GM or just 'that'll do'?

to make the most of your Rants and Raves about GM products, make sure you are sending this same info to GM, granted we have GM reps in the forum nothing sends a clearer message then a signed letter/e-mail with a real name attached to it....

And for some prospective....

Hey there In2Pro, I agree and have forwarded a copy & paste version to GM Canadian Customer Service Complaints.

I get your message regarding the links, sure every Manufacturer has issue's I get that; but seriously GM has had the GMT platforms so long now they should be experts and provide the best. But we are not seeing that. Also, as I said it's not so much we can't deal with the problems or work with GM, just that I think it's time they work with us, the consumer and start to respect our interests and dollars. Stop delivering us excuses and placing blame back on the consumer. IE: cracked dash, how is that a consumer fault, there should be an immediate recall for you guys south of our border with out a doubt. To be honest; GM is plain disrespectful.
---------------
Oh yeah and before I forget, the survey link, I've always looked at those things as "crap" sorry. Lets be realistic here, they are speaking to people of who have had their vehicles of 1 to 2 years on them. I think its safe to say sure, didn't we all love our vehicles in the first 1 to 2 year range? So honestly, lets talk with those same people in a 4 to 6 year range and see what they have to say then. I bet you would have a different set of percentages of how they rate those very same cars.

I have a PHD in Common Sense; and it tells me "time will tell" and you can't do that in the first or second year.

Default Rant / Rave

No rant or rave will get back the money, time or fustration I've had over my GM product.... So unless they will allow me to return it... why bother?

The strongest message I can send GM is... none.
I won't buy another, and I won't waste time writing to them.

Clearly they can't listen to their own market, as in a true capitalist economy they should have WENT UNDER. If your company sucks... you DIE... that's how it's supposed to work...

But this is only about the easily stolen vehicle that everyone now has to pay higher insurance for... so let's stick to that...
