Default Service Air Bag - 2004 Suburban

The Service Air Bag comes on when I start my car. The airbag light flashes 6 times before it stays on steady. Does anyone know what that means? Is it a sensor under either seat or some place different in the car? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

You need to scan for DTCs. Most auto parts stores will do it for free.

Did you every get this resolved? I have the same year and same problem. I have ordered a scan tool I am getting tomorrow that will read the codes. Just looking up possible common causes now.

no way to know without posting the codes. may sure your scan tool can read airbag systems as code readers will not access the sdm.

I picked up an Autel and it pulled a front drivers side closed loop code. I poked around my Chiltons manual and found it was the seat airbag circuit and I traced that back and found a frayed wire near the connector. Fixed the wire and all is well with the airbag system now. the 100 bucks for the code and 30 for the manual was a good investment. Beats paying a dealership more than that to do the same thing.

Hey there, which model Autel did you end up buying for this? I have a similar issue, I wanna buy one but I keep reading all mixed things. Thanks!
