SES code P1870
Picture this, friction surfaces worn out, friction material in suspension actually helping clutches and bands grab, crud actually helping seals, and then the flush service dissolves and rinses away all that and leaves a one heck of a clean and slipping transmission. They are supposed to inspect the fluid first to see if a flush service is going to be safe. But, the service department gets to use the machine (return on investment), a transmission shop gets another rebuild job, and GM gets another black eye.
Sorry to hear that. I wonder if you can get the shop that did the flush service to chip in on the repair. A reputable shop would never recommend the flush service if the fluid looked like it hadn't been maintained.

So, GM gets another black eye due to some lazy, careless dumbasses. I've no idea why they even push the transmission flush outside of those circumstances proscribed by GM as part of warranty work. Its benefits are questionable at best and it often precipitates the need for a major overhaul on high mileage vehicles. Have you contacted the service department to see what they have to say? Also, you may want to contact some sort of a consumer protection agency in your state. Some radio or TV stations can sometimes help as well.
I'm gonna talk to the service advisor at the dealer I got the tranny flush. I did talk to him about the SES light but not what the code reader code gave me. My suburban is at another GMC dealer waiting for a new tranny in the meantime....
