Default Snapped a intake manifold bolt

Hey guys, just got done with a head job on a 08 suburban 5.3. I read that the intake manifold bolts needed 44 lbs and then 89 lbs. first bolt barely got to 44 and snapped off in the cyl head. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this

"lbs" is a weight. Not a torque.
Does the manual say 44 inch-lbs or foot-lbs? Which did you use?
