i installed the k&n air intake system and i think it is awesome. my wife loves it and doesn't mind the loud sound. i will post pictures as soon as i learn how.

 

Is this on a 2007 tahoe? I didnt know they had one for the 07 tahoes yet? What is the part number?

Is it the oil or oil free filter? Thanks.

 

part number is 63-3058 and it is oiled. she i not have gotten an oiled one?

 

There was a big article about the oil type filters a while back. I got the volant kit which doesnt have a dry filter. Everyone was telling me that the oil can cause issues with the mass air flow sensor! So I sold my volant, I was a bit skeeered! I was hoping the new K&N's had a dry filter! I read an article that they were going to start using a dry filter, I guess not yet!

 

Someone a while back posted a link to a K&N report about oil and MAFs. Basically said it wasn't a problem. The GM CAI uses a regular filter. Check out the TruFlow. It's dry.

I posted that link. It was a report from K&N basically in defense of their oiled filters. However, as I mentioned I remember reading that they are going to be changing to dry filters. I seriously doubt K&N filters will cause an issue, they have sold more than most companies. If problems were that persistant I would think we would know about it.

I am waiting for AEM to come out with a kit for our tahoes.

They have a dry filter! However, nothing for the 07 tahoes yet. I have had about every brand intake kit and the AEM was my favorite. They look great, and the dry no hassle/maintenance filters are great!

 

Just curious. What's an aftermarket intake buy you over our stock one except maybe a little hp at top end?

Oh yeah and that intake roar. Was kind of surprised that the 07 intake is louder and exhaust quieter than my wife's 04.

 

The kid in the candy store feeling, haha. I dont think they do much. A little more of an agressive sound. Personally, i just like the look of aftermarket. Just another toy that doesnt do much! Just my opinion.
