So I have the rear of the burb loaded up for a trip on this up coming Saturday and I just got a "Service Suspension" Message and it wont pump up!

And the voltage continues to ride at 15~15.2 volts and Driver seat heater once in a while now starts to play the random on-off game.

So I finally called up the Chevy dealer (30 min away) about software updates...
$100 for diagnoses to see if any apply to our Suburban, and another $100 to upload the updated software! I thought someone said software updates were free?

 

I can not say if the updates are free, but when I asked my dealer about any updates they were able to run the VIN to let me know. No diagnostics were needed. This was right after I purchased the vehicle from a used truck dealership.

 

programming updates are only free when you are under warranty and have a problem that will be addressed by the update. Safety recall would be another reason.


I doubt a software update would fix what sounds like a failed component.


No diagnosis is required to check for an update but someone, who must be paid by someone, has to do the search...I don't work for free...do you? Dealer tech's are flat rate so if your not doing a billable job...your working for free.
