ok, my mechanic is claiming that the original quote of 875 for a fresh rebuilt 99 vortec 5.7.... was wrong... he says it for 98 and down....99 and up is like 1300....

are the vortec 5.7's not interchangable? what combonation will work?

From what I can remeber I thought the vortec 5.7 was from 96 to 99 because alltho they quit putting them in the trucks I thought they still put them in the tahoes and yukons. dont quote me but thats what I thought. If any thing do a ton of research and be sure because mechanics can almost tell people anything they want unless you know what your talking about.

 

i would imagine they were all the same... a vortec 5.7 in a 98 could not have been any different in a 99... confused... i just need to know what year engines will fit.. please anyone.

 

Like I said as long as its not the new 5.3 with the coil packs on the valve covers it should be the same. Sorry I couldnt help more.

 

thank you.. i am almost positive nothing could be different... but can i get more input on the matter? if anyone knows for sure...or a link please post it... basically my question is....... can i buy a rebuilt 1996 5.7 vortec....for my 1999 5.7 vortec tahoe?
