I picked up a used 08 Suburban 5.3L a few weeks ago. First mod before getting a Blackbear tune was to be a Cold Air Intake.

Using Amazon.com's configurator (mistake #1) they sold me a Spectre #9900 CAI. Just recieved it, and it appears this will only fit up to 2006 Suburban, though it also lists 2007 Sierra.

Further research shows I should have ordered the #9910 for an 08.

Does anybody know if I can make this work before I send it back, or rip apart my truck? Of course Spectre is closed till Monday and I'd rather not wait.

looks like Spectre has an email tech line you might try, it might be manned...
If its not listed as fitting its probably not going to fit, if your going to spend good money might as well have it fit right....

Take some before and after pictures, we'd love to see'um

 

is the TB bigger in the new motors? pretty sure they are the exact same size just some more power with our motor. what I am getting at is if you can carefully open the box and test fit that would tell you all you need to know.
the 2 things that would make it not work are
1) if the TB opening is a different size so the new tube wont fit on (if they have a soft coupling that could take care of that)
2) or if the mounting points are different so the intake wont be secure.

other than that a new CAI and Blackbear tune sound like great mods!
