Default Steering Wheel controls

Hey everyone! Hopefully someone can help me with this. I have a 05 Tahoe with the steering wheel controls that of course dont light up. i recently soldered some new LEDs in all the switches and they worked great until I was trying to get the bottom switches back in the steering wheel with needle nose pliers because they only give you a inch or so of wire to work with and stupid me had the power on when doing this and the metal touched one of the contacts and blew a fuse somewhere. I checked the side fuse panel and the fuse box under the hood but nothing. My steering wheel controls all perform the functions except the illumination.
At this point I've checked all fuses and have even soldered new bulbs in to see if I blew them when I tried installing them with needle nose pliers. I have also realized that pulling the airbag off the steering wheel makes it easier to install the bottom two switches. Does anyone know of maybe an inline fuse, or even better have a wiring diagram?

Welcome to the forum.

All I can say is be real careful when working near an airbag.

Thanks for the advice. I found a great video on youtube on the proper procedure to remove the airbag.
Well I brought my truck into the dealer today and they checked the wiring and found that I had power for the Illumination up to the clockspring in the steering wheel and no power after that. They recommended replacing the clockspring. So of course I told them I would replace it myself. I found one for about $80 doing a quick search on the web. Now does anyone know the procedure for this? Also, keep in mind for all those people with lights out either on their steering wheel controls or anywhere else on the dash, the problem I had initially was repaired by changing out the bulbs. Unfortunately I forgot to turn the power off when i was installing the bottom switch on the steering wheel with needle nose pliers and accidentally shorted out something in the clockspring. I found the bulbs on the web that match up exactly with what chevy had in there. Let me know if anyone needs to where I found them. If you know how to solder........you can replace these bulbs just remember to have the power off. Don't be intimidated like I was at first.

Have you checked the dimming wheel to make sure its all the way up?

Are ANY other interior lights out, such as the rear door switches?
