Default Suburban Lightbar: Which Setup Is Best for My Full-Size SUV?

Hey everyone!

I recently picked up a 2022 Chevy Suburban and I am seriously considering adding a rooftop setup for off-road trips and overland adventures. I have been browsing options online but the choices are overwhelming. After doing some research, I keep coming back to the idea of a Suburban lightbar as the go-to upgrade for improving visibility on dark trails and remote roads.

Should I go with a curved or straight bar? What length works best without looking ridiculous on a full-size SUV? Are 50-inch bars overkill? Also wondering about wiring directly to the battery versus using a relay harness.

Any recommendations on trusted brands that offer solid build quality without breaking the bank? Appreciate any advice!

Hey there. So as far a light bars go there are 3 massive issues with the light bars that go above the windshield. 1- They create a lot of wind noise at any speed. sometimes they whistle, sometimes they howl, and sometimes they roar, but rest assured they are going to make excessive wind noise. 2- they suck if there is anthing in the air. Snow, rain, dust will all generate a wall of lit up debis that you cant see through. and 3- they never last. Every one of these will end up with a damaged seal from sun and weather exposure and will malfunction within a year or 2. Bonus tip- the lenses on the cheap ones are made of crappy plastic and they for over making the light bar useless. My recommendation is to mount a short light bar or a few small squares on the bumper or go with some ditch lights if you want them higher. (ditch lights make noise too). Leave the big light bar for the race trucks.

Whichever one that you choose, when you wire it, make sure that you put a fuse in the line.
