Suburban Rear Defrost Wire Tab Broken
Took my 2010 Suburban to the dealer this morning to have the coiled wire / metal tab re-attached to the back lift gate glass. Vehicle is still within the CPO bumper-to-bumper warranty. Service adviser tells me there is a TSB for this and they will attempt to re-solder it to the glass. Short while later comes back and states it will not hold and they will have to order new glass; but want me to pay for it - $600. Remind him that it's still under warranty - comes back with a $100 offer - that this particular item is not covered under the bumper-to-bumper CPO warranty. I'm crying foul here; no where in my warranty documents is this item excluded; in fact I believe it is specifically included under "electrical connections" and "HVAC" sections of the warranty. Any else out there been through this situation or similar?
Welcome to the forum
Your not alone, its a fairly common issue and is very repairable with the correct tools and talent... all of which your dealership should have, and no you should not have to pay anything...
Here is a thread that covers others experience and fixes.... take heed of the pre stretching the coil to prevent it from happening again...

One thing I noticed when I took delivery of my 2010 was that the coiled cords were slack when the glass was closed. I thought the factory had figured it out but maybe not.
If they don't replace it for free, I'd try using a conductive epoxy to reattach the connectors.

Yes, mine are slack when closed, but appears that the "coil" still pulls too hard on the tabs when opened. Or could be a thermal expansion / contraction problem that causes the solder joint to fail over time.

Mine fell off a few years back. I tried several different products to reattach all were short term. Finally talked to a glass company and was told window needed to be replaced. Just one more reason this truck is JUNK. My old Tahoes never fell apart inside like this one. Just another reason I will never buy another GM truck.

No resolution; GM Customer Service responded that they concur with the dealer, unbelievable. Claim that no bumper-to-bumper coverage exists even though the CPO warranty book states "Your Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) warranty extends the New car Bumper-to-Bumper warranty by 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first." It could not be more black and white than that! GM is severely misrepresenting their CPO warranty.

After over 11 years of service I finally bumped a rear defogger tab on my 2001 Suburban with a cleaning cloth and knocked it off. After a bit of research I decided to give the Permatex Electrically Conductive Rear Window Defogger Tab Adhesive a try. Fixed in 10 minutes and so far so good. Cost was under $10. It has been three months now and still holding. We are getting into defogger season here in MN now so will see how it holds up under regular use. I recommend giving it a try. Just be sure to wait all of 24 hours before you reconnect the coiled wire. Good luck.

Also see if Louis can help or at least explain how it's not covered.
