Default Tahoe front tires binding up when turning

I have a 2005 Tahoe and the front tires are binding up when making slow sharp turns. This happens when in 2 wheel drive. It's eating up my front tires due to them not wanting to turn properly. It feels like the front tires are sliding and not turning. It also does the same thing in 4 high and 4 low but I rarely ever use 4x4. I just replaced upper and lower ball joint, control are bushings, sway bar links, hub assembly and bearings and cv joints. After all the new parts I still have the problem with the front tires binding up. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? Could it be something in the transfer case or front differential?

Sounds like you're stuck in 4wd. I might not have disengaged since the last time you used it. I would check the actuator. Easiest and least expensive

Is/does your 2WD indicator light actually light up, or, does it go/change back to 4HI after you attempt to change to 2WD ?

I had all 4 tires off the ground to make sure it wasn't stuck in 4wd when doing so only the back tires spun and I can also hear it switch from 2wd to 4wd and yes the light switches when doing so

Problem is in the front Diff. Actuator has separated from pinion, leaving pinion engaged.

Hey OP did you figure out what your problem was?? My 2005 Silverado is doing the same thing. Just trying to figure out if its the 4WD Actuator Or Transfer Case Motor.

Actuator = $100+
T-Case Motor = $300+

2WD seems to work fine although every once and awhile I get a front end bind like 4WD isnt fully disengaged.

All lights on the selector switch seem to work fine. 4WD seems to work Fine - Auto 4WD seems to work fine-

I wonder if this could be the root of my problem too.

https://chevroletforum.com/forum/tah...e-thump-69333/

On an extended road trip, I experienced binding in reverse, and then when I shift into forward, the truck hesitated and then after about 20 feet, made a loud thump and the truck felt like it drove across a huge pothole. Disconcerting to say the least.

It also did it when I was slowing down on the exit ramp, and once when leaving a rest area.

At no time did I receive any indication that I was in 4WD mode on the dash, as I always leave it in 2WD mode unless I need 4WD. (which isn't often)

I took it to the dealer, but they were not able to duplicate it, so they didn't poke further.

Default Same

I have the same issue with my 05 Tahoe. Front tires binding when I'm making sharp slow turns whether it be forward or in reverse it's definitely feels like it's stuck in four-wheel drive but the thing is is my Tahoe is not a four-wheel drive. So everybody that's saying it's four wheel drive issues it's not. My Tahoe is a two-wheel drive Tahoe as crazy as that sounds LOL. But yeah they kind of Hop almost like if you were in four low making a turn to Sharp they bind against each other. So if you found out how to fix it or what the problem was I would love to know.
