so im replacing a fuel pump on a 97 tahoe.i was wondering if anyone has replaced the 3 plastic lines going to the fuel pump with rubber fuel line and clamps or is the psi to strong for them.if anyone has done this or can help me out that would be awesome!!!

 

I HAD to replace the steel lines on a Ford once because they rusted through and were no longer made. It should only be done as a last resort. If you do it you must use Fuel Injection hose (high pressure), not plain fuel hose (low pressure). Also you need to use Fuel Injection clamps ( not regular hose clamps). Double clamp each connection. What is wrong with original line?

 

the plastic lines are pinched so i dont know if thats gonna cause a drop in the fuel pressure.i can straighten them out but there is some what of a crease in them.this is my first fuel pump job on a chevy.thats why im so picky about it..lol..

 

I would just un pinch them and re use them.

 

as long as the kink did not cause a pinhole. the fuel psi is to much for what i would recommend for hose and clamps

so i finally got the fuel pump in!!!! it started right up on the first try.thanks everyone that helped me out.who ever does it next i suggest having a helping hand.it was a bitch trying to put it back in by myself!!!!
