Tahoe puffed some smoke!!
Hello I have a 2001 Tahoe and I have no problems at all with the tranny but today I noticed something. When I had to floor it to get past someone quick, a puff of grey smoke came out when shifting back out of the passing gear.I tried it a second time to testand it did it one more time. The third time it did not do it. Any ideas?.....no smoking any other time that I noticed until today. - Thanks - joe
Joe,
Pretty normal stuff there.
It's normal to see smoke like you describe on occasion, usually caused by a loaded up cat and will occur during hard acceleration after long periods of operating the vehicle slow enough to be driving Ms. Daisy.
If you see black smoke or even worse white smoke (not cold morning steam) then you may have trouble but grey smoke during hard throttle is nothing to be concerned about.
