It's a flex-fuel sensor upgrade for the ECM.

I read on another forum that GM considers this recall an "enhancement" for flex fuel vehicles. It is supposed to let the AFM stay in V4 mode longer. Other posts have also talked about this fixing many people's problem with the battery going dead after seemingly short periods of running the radio in ACC mode. Personally, I have experienced the dead battery issue and I hope that this upgrade does fix it. I am also hoping that the upgrade to the AFM logic increases MPG.

Our resident "insider" remarks that it is only related to adjusting the engine for varying grades or qualities of E-85 in full or partial tanks of gas. It is not going to keep you in V4 or adjust the voltage required when the many computers start up in the vehicle.

no luck on the other two fronts...

Well I hope that we find out soon what exactly this code or recall is related to.

tahoe07 has basically summed it up.

Not a recall just a simple recalibration of the E85 sensor for more accurate reading to enhance product operation during E85 usage. If running pump gasoline then you will notice no difference.

Certainly nothing to make a special trip into your dealer for but file this into the back of your head and have this update done at your next scheduled maintenance visit.

Would this update erase the ECM reprogramming that is done through the performance chip?

My car came new with that performance chip and programmer, but they did all that stuff at the dealership and I have no idea how to resurrect it if it gets erased...
