My bad, I meant oil burn.

Yes, valve covers and shields mitigated the oil burn issues, however, I suspect that this was in response to the issues that owners were reporting. Again, once the issue became more well know, owners began to pay more attention and alerted GM/dealers.

Who make a tuner to shut it off, diablo? Super chips?
Active Fuel Management system and yes it's cylinder deactivation. Do a search. The inter webs is full of examples.

I saw an online article and a website that said that the 2007 Tahoe is the worst model of Tahoes. The complaints either have to do with the engine and interior accessories.

Not really surprising to me. First year of a new platform, lots of new electronic gizmos.

However, my '08 has most of those gizmos, and everything works exactly as it should 7 years later.

I just ordered one of those modules that plugs into the obd port to shut the afm off completely. I haven't had any problems yet but maybe this will prevent any future problems with the lifters and such.

Where do you find these modules to shut off afm system? Might it be possible to shut system off by removing fuse? have 2007 Tahoe with 125k and it seems like it is starting to use oil at 1 qt. every 2k. Is this normal? Never had a GM product that used oil between changes.
