Tahoe and Yukon
Hey there,
I have a question: I am aware that the price of the Tahoe and Yukon are different given the different trim levels which usually makes the Yukon a little more expensive. But what are the actual differences under the hood? Is there an actual difference in quality in terms of suspension? Body? Materials? Engine? I still find it difficult to understand that a company such as GM is maintaining two brands which seem to be so similar (maybe they are not). What is the strategy behind this?

The Tahoes and Yukons are the same under the skin except the Denali has the bigger engine like the Esky. All three are basically the same animal under the skin.
Wished GM had dropped GMC instead of Pontiac.

other costs
check your insurance as well.
Used Esky: $55,0000 (2008)
New Tahoe: $55,000 (2009)
Tahoe; $100/month to insure for me
Esky: $300/month.
Apparently the esky is the #1 stolen / messed with SUV.
Not sure where the Yukon sits, but please let us know.
I don't like how the dash of the esky looks like someone swallowed a box of legos and threw them up all over it... because that's exactly how they designed it. with 100,000 useless buttons. the tahoe is SO much cleaner.
But I do like the 6.2L and AWD (which you can get the tahoe now AWD i believe).
I just wanted the 6.2L, the 8" GPS, and 22"s... but the tahoe was better value, and my LTZ even has the same suspension...

Gmc
Let's open a new thread for this one because the whole GMC brand is stupid.
Look at Toyota. You have Toyota and Lexus... a 'normal' brand and a luxury brand... TWO.. (yes I'm aware of scion, but those are for kids and only 2-3 cars)
GM owns what? 260 name plates? produces at least 1,692 different engines and transmission...?
WHY?! all engines do the same thing.
How can you improve the quality of 200 different parts year after year.
make 3-5 engines and call it a day.
a cheap 4 banger, a V6, a turbo V6, and some big V8s... that's 4. 4 engines (gas) across the entire range. that's all you need! they all do the same thing!
ta-da, simplify!
then you CAN actually make improvements to these engines because you have people improving 4 designs not 40!

Not only that but they have so many different name tags/models that all look the same and that includes the imports. Basic style consists of a bar of soap w/ four wheels. Bring back the late 50s/early 60s when you could tell what a car was several blocks away.
