Tail light modifications
I have a 07 Tahoe and the rear brake lights are separated from the turn signals. The top bulb only does running light and brake lights. And the bottom only does running light and turn signals. I was behind an Avalanche of the same generation the other day and I noticed that theirs was both brake and turn signals, top and bottom. I was wondering if this was something that I could possibly do to my Tahoe, as I think it gives it a cleaner look. If it will work by doing some wiring back there I'm all for it. I've done many other lighting mods on previous generations of Chevy but this is my first 07+ and just want to be sure I'm not going to screw things up. Thanks for any advice given.

There is a possibility of power feeding back to the BCM causing lights not to operate properly or damaging the BCM itself as they are 2 separate circuits.
You may have seen some aftermarket setup on the Avalanche.
Diodes may be needed to stop any reverse power feedback to the BCM if you understand electronics.
With everything run by a module today a wiring diagram and studying it to see how it works and any possibilities of damage has become the norm. Gone are the days of a simple switch controlling anything.

Thanks for the info. I know the tail lights themselves are different, but i seen another today that did what I'd like it to do too. So I'm positive it wasn't a aftermarket setup. From what its looking like its all in the bcm and not "modifiable". Thats alright. I was just looking for ways to make my tahoe a little more custom.
