Default Tail Lights and Coolant leak 8.1

Hey guys, I have a couple regarding the 2006 3/4 ton I just picked. 8.1L with 125,xxx miles. I have a small coolant leak at the inlet of the heater core. There is a plastic "manifold" that features the quick disconnect fittings. This is the source of the leak. Now is the manifold defective or is the core on the way out??? I am hoping the manifold is the culprit for obvious reasons, however has anyone experienced this?

2nd question. The truck is absolutely stunning. It has been very well taken care by the previous owner. The exterior is black. I would like to update the look of the taillights. I see many different aftermarket (LED) designs out there. Some look sharp while others look like the China cheapos that they are. Can anyone recommend a nice, factory grade update?

Thanks,
Pal

I cant advise you on the taillights but I would use Alumiseal before I busted into the heater core. That a ton of work, and costly, particularly if done at a shop or dealership.

I'd drain some coolant out hot and running, heater on full (I've done it lots of times and never got burned) then dump the Alumiseal into the system refill the drained coolant.

Then I'd take it out on some back country road and run it hard like a raped-ape, to get it all circulated very well. If it still leaks you are only out $10 bucks. Used it often enough to know that it often works great.
