Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
I got the recall notice today for my 2007 Suburban. N212328760 / 21V050. My concern about this recall is that it involves removing the frontal passenger airbag from the already very brittle dash. The vent assembly has to be removed first to get to some screws holding the airbag assembly in place. The airbag assembly has numerous rubber pieces that snap into slots in the top side of the airbag opening in the dash.
Has anyone else had this recall done yet and if so were there any issues with additional damage to your dash?
I'd rather have a cracked dash then have someone severely injured or killed by flying shrapnel but I'm hoping they'll take care to avoid causing more damage to an already damaged and very brittle dash. I plan on taking many photos and videos of the entire dash prior to bringing it in for this recall. That way, if they do cause more cracks, I have the evidence needed to persuade them to replace it.
I'll second you on that.
My dash is not cracked either and when the replacement air bag is finally available so they can do it I also will photograph it six ways to Sunday.
Helps with the argument it was fine until you guys messed with it.
