Hello there all... I just bought an 07 suburban 5.3 with 101,000 miles on it. I started it up yesterday morning and heard a tapping from the motor. It wasn't a knock, (I've blown up several motors). After it warned up it seemed to go away. And again this mornig my wife heard it. Is this a normal cause I'm a cold motor noise or am I screwed?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How does the oil level look?
You might want to have the oil analysed to see how high any metal contents are...

I checked the oil as it sat on the lot, and it was clean looking, and I asked the dealer if it has been changed and he said yes. I'll check the thread you sent. Thanks for the reply!

 

I wonder if it is the lifters and cam issue that many of us have had.
