Thinking about a Tahoe
Hi everyone,
I stumbled onto this forum and thought this was a perfect place to get my questions answered. For the past 3-4 months, I have been seriously thinking about getting a 07-09 Tahoe. I currently drive a 05 Ford Explorer as my "every day" car that gets me from A to B. But lately, I have been loving how the new Tahoes look. Here are my questions:
I am having some second thoughts about getting a Tahoe mainly b/c I am worried about how much it will cost the first time I fill it up at the pump. What are some of your thoughts about the gas situation and having a V-8?
Lastly, in my Explorer, I have an "info" button that tells me how many miles I have went in a single trip and how many miles I have left to go before I have to get gas again. Is this feature also available on the new Tahoes?
Thanks everyone,
Bobby

tahoe.
You'd want the 09+ because it has a 6 speed transmission vs the 07+08 which are a 4 speed.
Yes, the info center tells miles driven, gallons used, current MPG, average MPG, and Fuel Range (and about 300 other things).
I average 16.5-17 MPG combined driving.
If you don't need to tow, the traverse gets more MPG. But unless your 05 is 100% worn out and on it's last 'leg' why bother? I run 'em till they can run no more. Cars are a huge waste of money... save your $ and buy a boat then you will have no money! lol.

Ouch
I previously had an 03 Tahoe LT 4x4 which I loved. Got about 15 mpg around town. It was a company vehicle and I put a little less than 150,000 miles on it in less than 4 years. I honestly never remember having it in the shop.
I just bought a 2009 Suburban and the wife filled it up for the first time today...I got a phone call about the time she swiped her debit card to the tune of $72.00. OUCH!...she loves it though...and she'll get used to it...impressions after about a week ---- what an awesome vehicle.
