Question Third row seat questions

Hello everyone! Great community you have here! I am a long time Jeep enthusiast who has recently made the switch to a 2004 Z71 Suburban. Talk about an upgrade in storage space, usability, creature comforts, and ride quality! Me the lady and our big GSD are loving all the space but I have a question about seating arrangements...

Currently the second row is captain's chairs and the third row is the normal folding bench seat. I routinely need to haul around myself, 4 people, the dog crate, and gear for hiking, rafting, lake trips etc... Looking back I should have purchased the Suburban with the second row bench seat so I could remove the third row and haul all my people (4-5) and gear easily. However, because I need to haul 5 people I am stuck leaving the third row in and severely limiting my cargo space. Is there anyway to make the third row a 60/40 folding option so I could remove part of it? Or mount another captain's chair in the back to increase my cargo area? If this is possible I would really like to go this way as it gives me a perfect compromise of comfort and storage space.

Also, for a last resort, is the 60/40 second row seat a direct switch out for the captains chairs? Could I just remove the captain's chairs and plop a bench seat in there?

TLDR: Is the third row in my 2004 suburban row swappable for captain's chairs or 60/40 folding seat?

Welcome to the forum.

I doubt that the third row bench has the required sockets for a third row split seat. I believe the second row might the convertible to a bench.

I was afraid of that. In the jeep world there was plenty of options for aftermarket seats and the like. I'm guessing that is not the case in the suburban world. Thanks for the reply.

That's mostly due to the fact that the 2nd & 3rd row seats are removable.

I'm referring to the back seats in jeeps which were removable as well

Just in case anyone else was wondering I found a fix for this. These people are great and willing to take on custom jobs as well!
