Default Ticking like bike spoke?

2013 Tahoe LT 64k miles. When I start my car it ticks like a baseball card in a bike spoke. If I accelerate the ticking gets really fast and goes away OR it goes away after 10 min of idle/driving. Any ideas? I haven’t had any problems other than the thermostat housing leaking that was fixed a month ago but it was doing this before that.

Sounds like a lifter. Try changing the oil and put in a good cleaner like Seafoam and see if that helps.

Default Good luck

If it’s ticking a good cleaner will quiet it down for a while, but the damage is done. Seafoam or MotorMedic will likely take it away, then it will come back after x miles. Then you’ll start burning oil between changes, likely to the tune of about 1 qt per 2000, then 1000, then 500. You’ll get nice puffs of smoke when you start your vehicle also.
Unfortunately if you hear a noise like that it’s too late. GM with their AFM garbage is likely to thank for that one.
