Tire size for OEM 20's
I am purchasing 4 new Cooper Zeon LTZ tiresfor my '07 Tahoe and can't decide which size to buy. Does anyone know if a 285/50/20 will rub...or do I need to stick with the 275/55/20? These are only available through Discount Tire soI would like to get it right the first time....
Thanks

RE: Tire size for OEM 20's
Actually (unless my math is wrong ), the 50s would only be ~ 3/8" wider and divide by 2 and it's only ~3/16" per side. Not much. Now your diameter would be about 3/4" less.
275 X 0.55 = 151.25 minus
285 X 0.50 = 142.5
8.75 X 2 = 17.5 mm = 0.689"
Not much. Probably not even noticeable on speedo.

If it was me.....I would go with 305/50/20. Very close to the same diameter but about 1.2" wider. My friend put that size on his Tahoe and had no rubbing. That will equate to .6" closer to the suspension parts but I don't think you will have any problems. Put your fingers between the tire and the suspension parts and see how much room you have.
