Lightbulb Torque Converter Pump replacement

Hello all,

I have a 2017 Tahoe Z71 that was between 35-36k that I recently brought back in August certified. I went into to shop because the check engine light came on. They advised me that it was the torque converter pump that would need replacing. My question is do you drop the transmission pan to replace the pump and do they replace the filter? I ask because I was checking the service interval for a transmission service at 45K. Is currently at 43K when I took it in.

To change the pump you have to remove the transmission from the vehicle, drain all the fluid, and tear it down. They might even just swap the whole transmission to save on labor. Just tell them you want a new filter.

And the no-oil-pan issue on later Chevy's comes back to bite them on the ar**se! Sure hate the idea I have to tear down my Malibu 6T40 just to change the oil filter.
