Towing...what's up with the backup sensor?
I thought it was supposed to disengage automatically? I backed up my boat the other day and it was beeping like crazy. Had to shut it off manually. Is it broke and if so, is it supposed to disengage when the wiring is connected or the trailer ball?

I agree that this is a super pain in the butt! I pulled a boat around all summer and every time I went to drop it in the lake the sensors were going nuts until I manually turned them off. I too think that it should automatically turn off when a wiring harness is hooked up. However, come to think of it, I hardly ever use the Tow/Haul mode when pulling the boat. I wonder if it would automatically dis-engage then. Might have to try it when I go to winterizethe boat.

The URPA system does not have the capability to sense if a trailer is connected, the system will disable itself (red light in the display) if it detects an item like a bike rack or some trailers is blocking the sensors.
In most cases though trailers will not disable the URPA system and you will need to hit the kill switch.

Mine turns off on it's own if it senses something there for an extended period. Trailer or rack will disablemine after a SHORT time.
Everytime I turn it off and restart it, itwarns me that the snesor is off but it does that automatically. It does take awhile to decide to turn back on after I unhook though.

My jet ski trailer turns mine off. I just figured that if it senses something continuously, it shuts off.

This story reminds of a joke played on a friend of mine's F-350 backup sensors... Another friend put "post-it" sticky notes over his sensors for a joke and he couldn't figure out why his backup sensors where going off when put in reverse right away until we ran out to look at his bumper.
Sounds like this joke won't work on the Tahoe!
