Exclamation traction control system activating for no reason

The traction control system on my 03 Tahoe activates for no reason. It only does it from a complete stand still, if I ease off the throttle for a second it shuts off and I'm good to go. This doesn't happen all the time either but often enough to be a pain. I'm leaning toward the problem being a wheel speed sensor but I'm not sure. I don't know how to test this or how to figure out which one it is. Please help if you can.

Let me know if you find out what it is as my daughter's 04 Denali does the same thing. She just turns the traction control off.

Default Traction Control System Activating For No Reason

Like your Chevys, the traction control system on my '05 Uplander is unexpectedly activating. I purchased it new in '05 and this problem just started a month ago and is gradually happening more often. My situation is a little different as it happens every time I accelerate during a turn. This happens whether I'm starting from a stop or just taking a turn at an intersection.

It's been a few years since your posts and I'm wondering how your vehicles are doing, if anything was found and corrected. Please let me know if you will.

Thank you.

you are correct. it is a wheel speed sensor. the signal is dropping out and the tcs thinks a wheel is locking up so the abs cycles a dump valve. the signal is weaker at slower speeds so falls out only during slow speed operation.
the only way to locate the fault is to take a snapshot with a scan tool of the event when it occurs. the snapshot is uploaded to a pc and plotted. the signal that falls out is then evident. replace that wss.

I just answered this in a different post. I had the same problem and it was front wheel speed sensors. I removed them and cleaned the slight rust off from mounting surface and installed them. Seems that the rust builds up and moves the sensor away from the ring and it provide a false reading

the air gap is critical. if to far away the signal is weaker and will drop out.

shops will not repair it that way do the chance of a fault re-occurrence. You have one chance to repair it right. otherwise the customer comes back screaming and that make the tech an *******. true dat.
