Question transfer case seal

My 2000 Suburban rear transfer case seal developed a leak through the weep hole in the bottom of the seal, not around the yoke--no oil slung. I replaced it and it still does. Is there an internal seal which needs to be replaced?

No but there is a tail housing bushing that is behind the seal in the NP261-263 Transfer case.

Thanks for responding. Makes me wonder why the weep hole. There are two seals in contact with the yoke near each other within the housing and then the outer seal against the yoke, also. Seems that all three would hold the fluid. The seal was $80 retail at GM. Guess I will just keep it topped up for now. Rarely a drip anyway.

You might keep an eye on the trans fluid, it could be an internal leak. I had an 82 4 speed, 4wd that leaked from the trans into the transfer case.

Watch this video
at 0:40 to 1:13, and the 11:15 to 11:59, and compare to what you are seeing on your transfer case.

I watched it and great to know. Cannot see a hole in mine at this point. Old Pride & Joy only has 300,000 miles on it, so it may just need a new (er) transfer case to resolve its problems. The parking brake release cable broke at about 280,000 and 19 yrs old. I told the Chevrolet parts guy that I hoped this new one was better and would last longer than the original. Ha
