Transmission Pan 2004
I started to change the transmission oil in my 2004 Tahoe and discovered that some genius GM engineer has designed the shift cable bracket to block the removal of the pan. Does anyone know how to remove this bracket or an easy way to remove thebracket and or pan..Thanks for your help
Waltmoe - I feel your pain. I've got a 2003 Silverado with the same issue (which I just learned today). And don't listen to ZX1100FI, that bracket is poorly placed and the designer should be ridiculed...what is so hard about a bracket that mounts on the same side as the transmission pan? Freak'n idiots Isay. I read around a bit, tried the "bend it back" approach(see links)and couldn't bend it far enough...without pushing it harder than I wanted to push it. I didn't havea T40 and frankly don't believe it's that big. I decided to scrap the do-it-yourself approach and pay the couple ofhundred the dealer wanted. I guess our time has to be worth something...right?

Probably not the most polite way to get assistance, there may be some "genius" lurking around on these forums that could help but may choose not to.
