All Tahoe's are equipped with the integrated radiator core/transmission cooler but only the 4.10 gear ratio come with the auxiliary transmission cooler.

I have the "optional" factory trans cooler with 3:73 gears and just drove from Phoenix north thru Nevada and Idaho in some pretty warm temps (115+) towing a 3500 lb trailer and a few pretty long grades on the way and the highest the temp ever got was 213 degrees. Normally it ran under 190 degrees all the time.

ZX: Could one install the factory aux. cooler easily or would it involve cutting some hard lines? Also does the aux. cooler employ some kind of thermostat to prevent slushing the tranny fluid in extreme cold climates?

The aux cooler is pretty easy to install and does not involve cutting oil lines.
The cooler does not employ a thermo bypass valve, it is recommended that it be completely bypassed or removed in extremely cold weather.
The new Dexron fuids offer very good performance in cold weather as well.

No such "option" offered with either a 2WD or any 3.73 equipped 2007 Tahoe.
The vehicle must be a 4X4 with 4.10 gear ratio to come from the factory with the optional KNP Aux Transmission Cooler.

Did you have this unit installed?

What is considered "extremely cold"?

Generally speaking if you operate in the lower 48 then you are not affected.
Extreme cold is typically in reference to the Arctic region were synthetic arctic ATF fluids are recommended.
