Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
What is the fluid level and the condition of the fluid? Post a pic of the fluid condition if you can. When was the last filter and fluid service? Did you do any work to the trans recently? Did you do a flush to the transmission? By slip/hesitate do you mean you have accelerated to back up and the idle/rpm rises but the vehicle sits there till all of a sudden it catches or the rpm's are high and the vehicle is not moving as fast as it should and is not a sudden jerk like I just described?
I actually haven't checked the fluid level. I will have to check the symptoms a little more closely. But sometimes I put it in reverse and it doesn't go anywhere. Then other times I give it gas and it jerks like you said. I've owned it a few years and I've never serviced the transmission
IMO, it sounds like low fluid and I would do a transmission service to it. New filter and pan gasket and fresh fluid refill. Sometimes maintenance like this fixes the problem. Basics first.

Okay I just took it for a drive. When I first got in it and put it in reverse it worked. I took it for a drive to warm it up, came back to park it, put it in reverse and nothing. While it was idling I checked the fluid level. It was fine and here's a picture of the fluid. It needs replacing but it doesn't look horrible. By the way we put a rebuilt transmission in it three years ago. Our warranty ran out in August! Grrr.
So, are you saying that it was full too? The color does not look that bad but how many miles on it since the new reman trans was put in? The least expensive attempt to repair is the trans filter service. I mean attempt when I say it because there is no way to know for sure until a trained qualified transmission tech, or yourself if you are that, and determines what the problem is. There could be a reverse clutch or valve body problem. Sometimes the new fluid and filter can clear some of a blockage out if that is the problem. You may be able to add a transmission additive to do the same, like Lucas LUC10009, but remember that an additive is a band aid. You can add it and then drive for a while and see if the problem clears up but then go ahead and do the trans filter service.
