so $380 in labor?
the one on my 350 was upfront and held the fan, I never did one on the newer one, but I imagine it shouldn't be to hard as the engine is forward facing, and this is belt driven, so it should be right up front...
call other shops if you think it's a rip off...
Is that the dealer? Seems very expensive. I did mine in 2-3 hours because it was cold and I never did it before!

ColumbiaR Welcome to the forum...$480 does seem a bit high but many shops don't discount the replacement part and charge retail price for it to make a bit more on the deal... ask the shop what the labor is and see if its any cheaper if you provide the part...(they may not warranty it thou if you provide the part) also does the $480 provide any warranty?

I just did my 97 350 last night. "Borrowed" the clutch fan wrenches from O'Reilly(Checker Auto parts), bought the new pump for $59.99+tax. Was washing my hands two hours later.
Removing the upper half of the fan shroud was great. But had to use an antique monkey wrench on the fan nut (theirs was too narrow and was rounding it over)while using the borrowed wrench on the pulley bolts. Had to use cheater bars on both wrenches, it was that tight. Upper and lower hoses are still good as they were changed when the radiator was replaced a while back.
I have decided i not a "fan" of this style of fan mount.
For you that are to young to know.
The monkey wrench is shaped like a pipe wrench and opens the same way. It has smooth jaws like an adjustable wrench. Bob
