Default Wet carpet

On my son's recent purchase of a 2001 Suburban K1500, we've noticed that the passenger side carpet stays wet, though it has been super cold here in WV. My son thinks he can hear water sloshing around somewhere in front of the dash. Are there drain holes there that could be plugged up?
And it's only on the passenger side. No loss of coolant, heater works fine etc. Any ideas? Thanks. Oh, no smell either i.e. coolant, stagnet water etc.

Could be the evaporator drain is clogged. It's underneath the evap. housing.

I agree w/73shark. I would check that first. I had a 96 Impala SS that had that problem. Whole passenger floor under the carpet ended up being wet b/c of it. A little cleaning, a little silicone sealant, pulled the carpet and let it dry ( and drove the car while the carpet was out so I could see where the water was coming from and be sure it was fixed.) That took care of it for me....

good luck.

I've found the drain hose (thanks to a Haynes manual), but all of the A?C tubes are in the way from the top, so I'll have to remove the plastic wheel well to reach it from underneath.

I'll post if the results are successful.

Well, no clog in the evaporator hose. I pulled off the rubber spout and fished around the tube as far as I could. It was dry and nothing came out.

I'm going to look around the sunroof and see if there is a drain hose there. But the ceiling isn't damp at all, so I dunno.

Other thoughts?

I'm assuming it's not the heater core since you could smell that.

Another possibility is the windshield, especially if it was ever replaced.

My windshield on my Suburban leaked horrible on the passenger side, the seal around the windshield was bad. Just an idea.

No coolant smell from the heater core.

Found the drain holes for the sunroof, but I was hitting something hard, not a blockage, on both sides at the same depth, so who knows.

If it was the windshield, would the dash be wet? Did you notice anything thing else wet?

my dash didn't get wet but You know the handle right above the passenger airbag, the drops would hit there and roll onto the floor. You could also check pass door seal.

No, no direct water in the cabin in my case. It is only wet near the door seal and radiates out from there about 6". Makes me think it has to be coming in from somewhere near the door seal.

Who knows, it sat with heavy snow on the sunroof on a lot this winter, so maybe it is a fluke and we haven't had enough warm days to dry it out completely.

I'll post again if I find anything that causes it.
