Default What are OEM parts??

Just wondering. IN case this pioneer avic-d3 doesnt work out and i cant get my RSE to work, I may have to go another way.

Can you buy the "factory" navi and back up camera and have them installed so that its the same as the factory?

Thanks

Just to put this back in your head. I'm waiting for the Kenwood 8120 to filter out to the masses. I'm already seeing it at a few vendors going as low as $1150. Crutchfield is listing it at $1599 after just liquidating the 7100 for $1050 with a free back up camera. I imagine they'll come down after they pluck all the buyers who will pay the bleeding edge price.

There are a couple wiring harnesses that allow the Kenwood to basically interface completely with the Tahoe. There's a rear wiring harness to allow the independant use of the rear DVD player with it's factory headphones. It has a navigation system to die for. (Garmin Nuvi system is inside and there's nothing better.) It will speak the turns and it's flash memory with no DVD disk. It costs approximately $70 a year after the first year is up if there's a lot of construction in your area and the roads have been changed to update it.

The 8120 has Bluetooth built into it. The Onstar will interface with it as well as the steering wheel controls. Rear view camera, HD Radio, Satellite radio, etc. all are options you can have. The only thing I really don't like and that may be because I don't understand where they're locating the GPS antenna or the satellite radio antenna is just that. I'm not sure how professionally that part of the installation will look. You probably already know if you like your AVIC antenna or not. Let me know.

Crutchfield is listing the 8120 as not fitting but the advisor has told me that is simply because they still haven't got their first one in stock to even install it. Once it has a record they'll change that. He told me he can't even imagine it not fitting the Tahoe. I would have snapped up the 7100 if I already knew what my tax bill was last week but I didn't. CPA's take their time.

Let me know as I already asked you about the looks of your AVIC antenna. Curious about that. I wish they'd just make a connector for both the XM antenna and the GPS antenna the factory nav unit has so it would work on any of them. Can't be that different.

Guv, The avic antenna is a small probably .5inchx1inch, black antenna that was attached to the opposite side rooftop than my xm antenna. It looks pretty good. The only place I can see the wire is where it feeds in through the door and under the weather stripping, but then it vanishes. I probably wouldn't see it if I hadnt looked for it.

So, from what ive been readingit looks like I cant seperate my rear/front seat entertainment with this avic correct. My installer is out of town untill monday.
