Looking at the specs and at fueleconomy.gov, the 2006 model year's mileage is less than both that of 2005 and 2007. I'm wondering if I should avoid looking to purchase a 2006 because of this? Does the engine have some flaws that were introduced in 2006 and fixed in 2007? I know this is some pretty specific info, but I figured if anyone knows, that person will probably see this
TIA,

Mpg
no, the EPA estimates them...
if the MFG did, they would all say 200mpg
the 07 tahoe is WAY different than the 05...
if you are concerned with a few MPG, a Tahoe or Suburban is not the vehicle for you...
It hauls people and trailers. If you want MPG you need a sedan / volt / accord/ etc.

2011 mpg
My 2002 tahoe got 16 continously the new one gets around 15 even with the 6 speed and the crappy 4 cylinder stuff. Looking for a chip that disables the 4 cyl, any suggestions?

The only info on differences between 2005 and 2006 that I could find is this, from wikipedia:
The catalytic converters were relocated closer to the engine, allowing for faster "light off" and reduced emissions.
I suppose comparing to the 2007 is not apples to apples since the body style changed.

Just drive it hard enuf so it never goes into 4 cyl mode.
Mine gets about 12-13 in town and 18-19 on hwy at 75. These are actual calculated values, not DIC. At 60 on level hwy, the DIC says 21-22 in 4 cyl mode. Mobil 1 also.
Moral is if you want good mpg in these 2.5 ton beasts, you can't drive it like you stole it.

I agree if you're looking at a burban or tahoe you mind as well throw out all that economic BS that everyone is worried about nowadays. My 94' burb get's 10 MPG so if you're worried about getting like 16 I'll trade you. :]
