WiFi for your car/truck?? Anyone have this?
I was looking into getting the router/wifi from autonetmobile.... would be great for the kids in the back seat of my suburban... Has anyone tried this thing? I know it's a 3g connection and what not but supposedly it has special technology that makes it not lose connection .. ie: you can stream and download large files... unlike the Mifi..Anyone out there try this thing first hand? I looked at the reviews on Amazon and most of them seem a little phoney.

I have installed the mopar wifi. It only needed a switched 12 volt and ground. It would be very easy to install in any vehilce. The only thing you would need to use the mobile wifi would be to activate it with the cell company mopar is set up with. It worked as I tried it when I finished the install.

rolling wifi
I do IT for a living... all day, all night
Basically its an air card and wireless router in one.
It's a neat little device for $40-$70 / month generally depending on speed.
Most over the air internet providers 'limit' you to 5GB / month any time you go over costs you big $$$
Most also provide a method for measuring how much you have used.
They are nifty and can provide rolling internet access, just don't expect to stream much.
General web surfing / chat / email / etc will all work fine; but at 55mph I don't think you'd have much luck w/youtube...
Chrysler is building this into some of their new cars... it's a nifty idea; but i'd rather my satnav just bluetooth to my iphone to get on the internet... then its not another bill...
then I could do email, weather, gas prices, traffic, etc on the head unit.

Awesome info!!! Thanks
I just found this review from cnet and it looks better than I thought ...
I may go buy this bad boy today while it's ony $199
The streaming looks like it works pretty damn good ...
Supposodly they have some patent pending technology that manages the data and the cell tower connections .. allowing you to stream better than a regular 3g connection... take a look .. tell me what you think

Didn't say it wouldn't work, just that I'd be impressed if it did... area / coverage will have a lot to do with your speed!
good luck!
let us know how well it works too, do a little review on the install / setup / etc
