I got the new rear window fix a couple of months ago...and just towed my trailer this past week for the first time. Still getting alot of wind noise...NOW WHAT??? Try the dealer again...or is there another fix?? Help!! The noise is driving me nuts!!
Is there an opportunity to add on a large wind scoop that will help deflect the wind up, and over the trailer as opposed to creating a vortex between the Tahoe and trailer? I know that with my uncle's truck with cap, the back cap vibrates when the trailer is hooked up. Sounds like a similar type event.
I have had a similar situation with towing a "box" type trailor with my fathers truck, espically one that is even slightly taller than the vehicle. Basically instead of the air going smoothly over the Tahoe and the back contours it strikes the trailer and bounces back into the rear of the vehicle. Probably the only way to relieve this like Gixxer said would be to find a way to mount an air scoop to direct the air from over the Tahoe over the trailer as well.
Dealer replaced the window for me, but also tighten up the latch so that you have push it shut. You just can't close it normally. You shut it then pu**** at the bottom of the window till it clicks. Pretty tight but no more whistle.
Just got my Tahoe back from the dealership....they too did the adjustment to the rear window....it is tighter and don't have the wind noise anylonger....yea!!!!

i have an 07 Yukon XL and have this exact problem only when towing. i crawled back there to see what was happening and it turns out the trailer is creating negative pressure behind the vehicle which cause the liftgate glass to be pulled open. the glass is actually flexing from the negative pressure and then you get the whistling which is air escaping between the glass and the gasket. i solved it temporarily using blue painters tape (removes easily) all around the inside bridging the gasket to glass. when i took it to the dealer they said it was not adjustable so i was sort of stuck. great to know there is a TSB
I have the same problem with wind noise. The dealer replaced the back glass and gasket but the noise is still there. Has anyone adjusted the rear latch themselves? I asked the dealer if there was an adjustment to make the back glass close tighter to the gasket. They said they didn't think there was but they might have a guy that could "maybe figure it out". I would rather do it myself if possible. But if I need to have the dealer work on it I would like to have some info to point them in the right direction rather that have a guy "maybe figure it out".
I have the same issue with my new 2008 Suburban 2500 2WD 6.0L. When searching the internet I came across a GM bulletin entitled "Windnoise from Rear of Vehicle/Liftgate Glass." It is Technical Service Bulletin #06-08-66-012C and was issued on July 31, 2007.
It states the following condition: "Some customers may comment on excessive windnoise coming from the rear of the vehicle, expecially when trailering." The bulletin applies to all GM SUVs including the Tahoe.
The correction as noted in the bulletin is to (1) replace seal, (2) replace stop bumpers and (3) replace rear glass. A liftgate latch adjustment may also be necessary.
I called my dealer with the info this morning. They pulled the bulletin up on their system and ordered all of the parts for my Suburban. The rear glass has to come from Michigan by ground transportation due to its size. It is supposed to come in sometime next week.
I'll post again after they have done the work and let you know the result.
