Default Windshield wipers & auto-on headlights

I was outside cleaning my Hoe up so I could post some pics here. I turned my wipers on high and noticed that after the 9th cycle, the headlights came on. . I thought it was just a fluke, so I did it again. Same thing. 9th cycle on high starts the headlights. I didn't see anything about it when I searched the owners manual, so I guess it's a standard option. Anybody else met with this ?

Could be a safety feature. Read the article in the link from a newspaper in San Franciso, CA. I guess CA has a wiper / headlighs law that says motorists must turn on their headlights if they are running their windshield wipers for a length of time due to rain, snow, etc..

Just guessing - but it makes some sense.

This excerpt is from the owner's manual under "Rainsense II Wipers"

"When Rainsense is active, the headlamps will turn on automatically if the exterior lamp control is in the AUTO position and the wipers are active."
