I briefly skimmed through the article. Regarding vehicle repair; this battle has already been fought. the USA have the right to repair act which allows owners and independent shops access to factory service information...at a cost.

Interesting, you buy the vehicle but if you want it operating optimally you have to renew your software license annually...

How can they call them "American Companies" Many GMs aren't built in the US, and last I checked... Fiat owns Chrysler.
