Hi everybody, new to the forum, and have a few issues with my suburban. This is an issue I've never experienced so any input is helpful. I can start down the road with the Burb headed straight, steering wheel straight and upright. As soon as I make ANY turn, left or right, the wheel ends up either half off right or left or totally upside down depending on the length and amount of the turn. Can this be a bad steering box? No noises, no fluid leaks, and the front end is tight on or off jack stands. Sometimes when turning the Burb wont turn "fast" enough, then suddenly turn like its supposed to, mostly after I've already compensated for the lack of turn radius much to my chagrin. So now it sits in my driveway waiting for me to rebuild the steering box. Not driving it until it's fixed and before I get into taking that box off (not looking forward to that), I want to know if anybody has any ideas.

Another totally unrelated issue, my accessory plug (cigarette lighter) stopped working and now my interior lights wont shut off! All fuses are good, and all the door switches have been checked with a meter and work as expected. The wiring to the plug looks good but its getting no power. I didn't see any fusible links inline with the acc plug on the schematics, any suggestions?

 

You are wise to park your Burb until you repair/replace the Steering Box, which I'm relatively sure is the problem as well.

Have to pass on your electrical problem, maybe someone else will be able to comment on that.
