Default 2002 Yukon, replacing Power Steering Control Valve P/N 26095470. Where is it?

I'm stumped here, I can not find the power steering control valve for the life of me, part number 26095470, and photo attached to this post.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is it in the steering box?

I'd be my guess it goes where the power steering hoses go into the steering column... that is only a guess, I don't have a manual in front of me at the moment

A quick Goggling turned this up on the Corvette forum...

Welcome to the forum.

Looks like the one I replaced in my Corvette w/ a pickup truck valve. That one was in the PS pump. It was a pressure relief valve. My stock one was too strong and could prevent rapid steering wheel input which got me trouble autocrossing on tite circuits. The downside is on-center sensitivity which is a mild problem going down the interstate.

I think you access it by removing the pressure hose but might the return. It's been over 30 years ago.

Why does yours need replacing?

Edit: Didn't see in2pro's link but that's a different system than the Tahoe/'burb's have. The Sharks used a slave cylinder design. The control valve in their case told the cylinder whether to extend or retract.

Is that suppose to be a pressure relief valve or spool valve? i thought power steering spool valves were part of the steering gear (rack and pinion) assembly. I have never changed one or seen one changed.

The dealer parts dept can print out a exploded view when you provide the gm part number.

What is the concern your trying to fix?
