Question 1991 suburban with 1993 tbi

Engine knock or pings during acceleration, sounds like octane? I run 93 octane fuel and still there. If I disconnect the timing lead(tan/blk wire) engine runs like new. Any help would be greatly appeciated.

It sounds like you need to play with advancing and retarding the timing of the engine while that wire is off.

Welcome to the forum.

Need to check/set timing to spec. I doubt that engine requires premium fuel and it's just money thrown away.
