Default 2005 Chevy Suburban 5.3L V8 1500 LT throwing code P0342 Camshaft Position sensor

I am getting P0342 reading for Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input B1. I replaced the Camshaft Position Sensor and it is still throwing the code. It often struggles to start on the first crank. I was wondering if anybody has came across this issue and what ended up fixing your problem.

Some background. I recently had to replaced the Oil Pressure Sending unit twice. I initially switched it out because i had and erratic Oil Pressure Gauge. The replacement ended up springing a bad oil leak, not sure if the oil that leaked out damaged or dirtied the electrical connector to the camshaft sensor. When i replaced the camshaft sensor it had some oil on the connector. I tried to wipe it down as much as i could. I'm wondering if i should spray it down with some contact electrical cleaner.

I would definitely get that oil off of there. Using dielectric grease can help to keep it out.

Default Update

I was getting zero voltage read from the cmp connector pin that leads to the brw/wht wire but when I inserted a t pin through the cable i was getting proper voltage. Replaced the connector and issue is resolved.

Default Similar Issue: Bad Ground

The wiring diagram for that is crazy long. My initial code error was low voltage to MAP sensor NO signal to camshaft position sensor. Rough idle (except while in 4 wheel hi/low). 5 volts on everything under the hood. Ended up being an O2 sensor that was loose and hanging on top of one of the driveshafts. Also, Chilton’s in the “Engine Electrical” section, mentions a PCM reprogram sequence/parking brake set/release 1500 rpm@ 2 minutes then a minimum of 5 miles to recalibrate the PCM every time you disconnect ground... Should and usually does reset itself after a while.

Really leaning toward the dual battery setup and dedicating an always on arrangement.
