Welcome to the forum. How did you get going afterwards? When you say "Lights," are you referring to illumination lamps or all lamps (dome lamps, headlamps, parking lamps, etc.)?

when i say all the lights they were all the dash lights, radio lights temperature and compass in the mirror and all the outside lights head lamps, parking lamps it was as though the battery was disconnected.

The radio gets the battery voltage with or without the key on. I'd suspect a loose connections at the battery terminals. There could also be an intermittent connection inside the battery itself.

Well, then, you just have to start checking and measuring voltages at various electrical junctions in a systematic way, I suppose. Sometimes you get lucky and find something right away and other times you find something underneath the fuse block (the last place you look) after much hair pulling.

bas1961, are you still looking to fix the vehicle yourself or would you be willing to have the vehicle diagnosed by your dealership? They should be able to diagnose the vehicle and give you a good starting place or they could also fix it for you if you'd like. I hope that helps you.

hi Jeff and thank you for the good wishes. i would like to take it to a dealer, but i just have a hard time getting my wife to stop driving it long enough to leave it for a day. i would live to be able to fix it on a sunday afternoon...

EinST, is there a particular place that you would start? is there a list of voltages that i should get from each place?

You're going to need diagrams on power distribution and electrical component locations. Check into your local library for the factory service manuals or an online subscription to alldatadiy.com or eautorepair.net.

Try to limp to a Autozone to scan for codes. It has to be something relatively simple to kill it completely like that. Check the ECM and be sure it's connected correctly. In my 07 one of the connections broke and caused a TON of issues. Dealer had to tow it, thank god I hadn't voided my warranty yet.
