When I drive my 1999 Chevy Tahoe I hear a "putt" sound as I drive. I'm not sure if it is an exhaust leak (I can't find one) or if it's time to get a catalytic converter. Is this common for this year Tahoe? I noticed that I am getting a leak of radiator fluid coming out of the block of my engine; around the head. Could the catalytic converter cause such a problem, maybe with too much pressure being pushed back to the engine???

If the cat is clogged, you'll get a whoosing sound out of the tail pipe under hard acceleration.
Antifreeze leaking out around a head could be a head gasket.

if water is coming from by the heads, it's probably your head gasket. & you would get a trouble code if the catalytic converter was bad, plus have loss of power. tap on the cat with a rubber malet. if you here rattling, then it's bad. you said you here a "putt", it's possible your engine is misfiring
