Default Dipstick, Me or it?

I've wanted to to talk about my dipstick. It seem awfully long at 31 inches and is it supposed to have 2 rivets half way down? I've never gotten a good reading and I've tried 3 ways. While it was cold, while it was hot and running, and 5 minutes after shutdown. They all show WAY over the 5 imprinted circles. So is the dipstick got me are what am I doing wrong?

You might have an aftermarket replacement dipstick. If you know someone with the same engine as you have, borrow their dipstick just as a test to see if it reads better. You can also go to a junk yard and buy one. The u-pick junk yards are much cheaper.

Are you putting in 5.5 quarts or 6?
I have noticed if I use 5.5 its just right above the 5th dot, if I use 6 it is about where a 6th dot would be....

The owners manual calls for 6 quarts, the reason I ask about the 5.5 is It seems I have read somewhere where there was a call out for 5.5 but I can't find where I read that but I always remember it...

Your engine looks just as clean as mine. Not a spot anywhere. Your photo of the dipstick was of the end only, does it have rivets half way down or is it one piece? Also finding a breakers yard replacement dipstick is a no go. I have 6 breaker yards around and not 1 07-14 model in any of them. They even called around and zero even for little parts I want. Sometimes the truck sits for weeks so I try checking then and it still says way over. I would say from looking that mine goes at least 4 marks farther up the dipstick.

Yes I keep her clean and tidy...
I have the 2 piece dip stick... if yours is reading that high, I would question the levelness of the ground you are checking it on or the levelness of the area the oil was last changed in...
It sounds to me your oil level is too high
